Followers Urge Arrest of Person Who Touched Ariana Grande
Passionate followers of Ariana Grande are urging that a person who leaped a fence and grabbed the celebrity during the recent Wicked: For Good launch be arrested or removed from Singapore.
A circulating clip shows the person identified as Johnson Wen shoving aside photographers and lunging at Grande while the actors proceeded down a yellow carpet surrounded by onlookers.
Co-star Cynthia Erivo immediately guided the stunned star away from Mr Wen, who was observed being removed of the event by event staff.
Mr Wen stated on Instagram recently that he was "let go after being arrested", though legal records indicated that he was due to be present on the following morning. It is uncertain if he was formally accused.
Pattern of Incidents
This is not an isolated incident for Mr Wen, who labels himself a "Troll Most Hated", has crashed a concert or event. His Instagram account features clips of him interrupting other celebrity events, including jumping on stage at the artist's Sydney show in recently and in a like fashion during The Chainsmokers performance in the city last year.
"There needs to be action taken against him as this is clearly a criminal offence," wrote an Instagram user, in a response to a video Mr Wen posted of his act.
"You've done this repeatedly... how are you not behind bars?" another Instagram user questioned.
Supporters Voice Worry Over Ariana's Well-being
Numerous supporters blamed Mr Wen for "triggering past anxiety" Grande, who had discussed suffering from PTSD after a devastating incident at the finale of her 2017 performance in Manchester, claiming the lives of 22 people and wounding numerous individuals.
"The star has endured numerous terrifying experiences... including the Manchester tragedy, and you believed breaching security was amusing?" said a further response on Instagram.
A number of attendees also criticised event staff at the Thursday event for not being vigilant enough; while some called for online networks to remove Mr Wen's content.
Aftermath and Premiere Information
In videos shared widely, Grande looked startled when she was grabbed by the intruder. Her cast members Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be observed consoling her while Mr Wen was led out by security.
Grande has remained silent on the event, and the premiere activities continued without further issues.
Numerous of fans had assembled in a crowd of colorful attire at the Wicked: For Good international debut in a Singapore mall, including several who had stood in line for as long as eight hours before it commenced.
The film, to be launched on November 21, is the sequel of a dual adaptation of the well-known Broadway and West End production Wicked, which focuses on the unlikely bond between two distinct characters.
The show itself is a derivative of the classic story The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who portrays the good witch Glinda, was adorned in a light pink sparkling outfit at the premiere while Erivo, who portrays the villainous character, wore a sleek black dress featuring roses.
They were accompanied by cast member Jeff Goldblum.
The previous installment, Wicked, was the highest-grossing motion picture of last year in the UK, and received ten Oscar nominations, securing two for excellent wardrobe and production design.
