The Porcine Pardon: Pig Named Six Seven Spared by Miami-Dade Mayor.

Although not quite at the same level as granting clemency to festive fowl, but the mayor of Miami-Dade had her own Donald Trump moment this week by ceremoniously saving the life of a swine named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava executed the holiday gesture at the Cuban-themed Latin Cafe 2000 in the heart of Miami’s iconic Little Havana neighborhood.

“This animal is guiltless. Clemency is justified for her. No offenses are on her docket,” declared Levine Cava in a speech with inescapable allusions to the extraordinary and sizable number of pardons issued from the start of the commencement of a second term in office.

“If we disregard eating 6 or 7 apples per day,” she went on. “May this pig enjoy a prosperous future free from concern.”

This ceremony, either celebrating or rejecting the region’s Hispanic tradition of eating roast pork during the holidays, was founded to replicate the yearly bird sparing at the White House.

The pig, provided by a Coral Gables firefighter, was given its name from the modern linguistic fad of young people shouting “six-seven” – inspired by a rap song lyric – often without clear purpose. The trend became so pervasive that a major dictionary recently made “6-7” its annual vocabulary selection.

A Peaceful Retirement

This particular pig is now destined to live out its days at a countryside refuge “far from charcoal and roasting pans”, according to the ceremony's official statement.

“This swine clemency has become a cherished method to kick off the end-of-year celebrations,” said the cafe owner, in a notably cheerful message.

“It embodies the character of Miami: vibrant, varied, and rooted in traditions that unite the community. Annually, we are honored to observe culture and compassion in a way only Miami can.”

Participants enjoyed a plant-based fare of spinach fritters and cafecito as they toasted the swine's new lease on life.
