The Renowned Musician Urges Support to Send Together for Palestine Lullaby to UK Holiday Chart Peak.
A campaign is aiming to send a Palestinian lullaby to the peak of the festive singles chart. The campaign seeks to deliver assistance to communities in Gaza while also showcasing Palestinian culture and creativity.
A Possibility for Solidarity and an "Unlikely Coup"
Renowned figure Brian Eno, who contributes to the track, stated that the song titled Lullaby represents a chance to stand with Palestinians this festive season. He acknowledged the potential for an unlikely festive coup.
“That would be amazing if that came to pass, yes,” he stated. “I’m not gonna be completely disheartened if it doesn’t, holiday tracks are a unique phenomenon.”
Defiant Message of Freedom and Dignity
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who performs on the adaptation of a folk song called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the song's resilient spirit.
“It has a deeply meaningful spot for many individuals,” Barghouti shared. “The essence is that I would prefer a dignified death than exist without freedom. This is the primary message of the song; we want to live a life of dignity that we deserve as Palestinians.”
Production History and Contributing Musicians
The track was produced after a solidarity show held in September. Initially planned to be performed and recorded live, the piece was cut from the show due to scheduling overruns.
The impressive roster of performers featured on Lullaby includes a group of acclaimed names from the scene. All were part of the earlier concert, which reportedly raised a significant sum for relief efforts.
Production and Release
Lullaby was crafted by a trio of talented individuals. The song blends a mix of the original Arabic with new English lyrics.
The team running the initiative have emphasized that their goal is to collect the highest amount for a specific fund. These proceeds will be channeled to projects in Palestine through an established charity.
“There is no a fixed goal,” a representative commented. “We will pursue as much as possible. Obviously, the higher the total, the greater the impact. It all goes out to the people of Gaza.”
The reality in the region was noted for its extreme devastation, with a overwhelming percentage of property reportedly levelled or seriously harmed.
“In that context, a couple of million won't make a massive dent. But I think what truly matters is above all making this cause better known and demonstrating there’s another side to the story.”
The track is set to be released this Friday. Additionally, a video of the charity concert will be made accessible to view on a popular streaming site from the 19th of December.
