Vinted Shoppers Voice Displeasure About Size Changes
Vinted users have been reacting angrily following a change that caused products showing incorrect sizing.
This online marketplace has revised its sizing categories for women's and children's clothes but did not contact every member regarding the update.
Digital Channels Backlash
Many shoppers and sellers are expressing on platforms saying Vinted listings now show an altered size classification versus the original listing because of the remapping.
The platform stated the updated approach better aligns with other platforms.
They have suggested members to review their products and manually change the size if necessary, causing user dissatisfaction.
Size Classification Updates
Previously, the measurements included numerical and alphabetical indicators, like S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes a letter with a size spectrum such as S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the sizing has been recategorised - such as a large size was formerly size 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
Member Experiences
Frankie Bridger, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
Stephanie Gallen, located in Scotland, stated items she posted with size 14 tags were appearing on the platform as larger sizing 20-22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they may become frustrated," she explained.
Required Changes
Another shopper, located in England, said she had been left angered due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizes on "every single listing".
"This situation is especially annoying, because of my ongoing medical condition and Vinted sales have been crucial after experiencing income reduction," she explained.
Platform Context
The service features exceeding 100 million members, including 18 million in the UK.
It has become a favored option compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance where an unanticipated change on the platform has faced criticism: last year, Vinted reversed a change to its shipping options after backlash from users.
